2009 Snow

This is all the snow we get in Louisiana!

Annual Christmas Baking

Every year as far back as I can remember we would all get together to make Christmas goodies at my moms. After she passed away we started going to her sisters (Ann) house. We have so much fun and it's great getting together with everyone. Thanks Ann. Love you.
Her Christmas tree was gorgeous this year.

2009 Christmas

This is my Christmas quilt and redwork santa pillow. Now the Christmas tree is just waiting to be taken down. (Yuck)

Katelyn's Quilt

My niece Katelyn's quilt that she received for Christmas. I used the, "Yellow Brick Road Pattern" and I don't know if I would do so again as I think it's a little too busy. I used the "Shang Ri La" fabric. The only problem now is all my brothers and sisters are wanting one now. (HA)

Kelsey's Quilt

My niece Kelsey sewed the blocks for her horse quilt and I put them altogether for her and had it quilted for her Christmas present. She is only 11! We did a disappearing 9 patch.

Blakely's Quilt

Our pastor's daughter just had a baby girl and I made this quilt for her. I used a free pattern from modabakeshop.com and a charm pack from April Cornell's Portugal line. Mr. Nichol's from Kinder quilted it for me.

New Member to the Farm

My husband Tresmer has a small goat herd and this is one of the new babies. My daughter's dog Jacque didn't know what to think about this.

My Stash from Quilt Festival

This was added to my stash when I went to Quilt Festival in Houston. Like I needed adding anything to what I already have. But I just can't help myself (Hee Hee)

Britt's 21

Our daughter Brittany was 21 October 13th. We all met at Casa Manana in Lake Charles to celebrate her birthday. It's hard to believe our baby girl is 21!

The Bushnell Reunion

This was my grandmother Viola Bushnell Savant's family reunion. My grandmother is the 1st one to your right. Out of 13 children there are 10 children left. My grandmother is the oldest at 91. All of these people have special places in my heart. What a great family to have.

My New Purse

I took this purse class Monday at Quilts Bayou in Lake Charles. You use jelly rolls and batting to sew it together so when you through it's quilted. It was fun. I thought I would stress out. (HA) We used the pattern from http://sewuniquecreations.com. The pattern name is, "Ashley". A lady had shown her purse at the quilt guild I wanted to try it. This is my 1st time to make a purse. Some of the ladies was making theirs with fall fabric and it made me want to make another one with fall or winter looking fabrics.

Blocks for Prayer Quilt

My Aunt Patty is making a prayer quilt for a lady who has ovarian cancer and I paper pieced these 4 blocks for her to put in her quilt. I got the free pattern from Carol Doak's site.

Finished Hydrangea Quilt

I finally finished my hydrangea quilt. I just got through sewing on my binding. I used the Steam A Seam 2 1/4" and it worked great. You sew on your binding (mine was 2 1/4") on the front then on the back you iron down the Steam A Seam then iron down your binding to it then stitch in the ditch on the front. I think I will buy me a stitch in the ditch foot to do this again. Mr. John Nichols from Kinder, LA did the quilting and he did a great job. I don't want to do another on point quilt for a while!

New Curtains

I made me new curtains for my sewing room and a new bulletin board. The fabric I used is I guess you would say kind of retro. I've been having this fabric and I decided just to go ahead and finally do it!

Christine's Prayer Quilt

My aunt Christine Bertrand Cooper has been diagnosed with emphysema so at my retreat I worked on a signature prayer quilt for her. I used a old pack of charms called Wuthering Heights and used Paula Stoddard's book, "Hooked on Charms 2" I love her little books and I love making things with charms. They really go together fast. Please remember Christine in your prayers.

Michael Scott's Quilt

Completed this quilt for a baby shower gift. Jennifer Guillory Hardy is having a baby boy and she is naming her baby after her daddy who is now deceased. Her dad Mike was our best man in our wedding and he passed away when Jennifer was just a little girl. He was a great guy. I used Evelyn Sloppy's book, "Sew One and You're Done." This is the 2nd time I used this book and I really like how fast the quilts came together.

Calcasieu Cut-Up's Quilt Retreat

Pictures are from our quilt retreat. What fun it was to just sit and sew from Thursday until Sunday! It was at the Catholic Retreat Center in Moss Bluff, LA. All our meals was prepared for us and all we had to do was sew. There are a couple of pictures of quilts completed. I wish I had a picture of all the quilts being worked on.

These patterns can either be paper pieced or you can do the traditional piecing. Instructions for both are included. Her patterns are available at the, "Quilt Shoppe" in Westlake, LA. Go check them out. Can't wait to get started on one. Sharie is the one who taught me to paper piece and I love it.
