Design Wall Monday
I have finally finished my sons quilt. I bought this kit from Bonnie Blue Quilts I think it was in 2006. I started on it about 2 years ago and it got put away. I am thinking about putting a border on it to make it bigger if I can find the fabric to match the black squares. My second picture is my haul from the Shop Hop that, "The Borne Quilter" out of Lafayette had this year. This was my first time to go and it was so much fun but very tiring, 8 shops in 2 days was alot. I didn't need anymore stuff but I just can't pass it up. LOL The black and pink bag was a prize I won at, "The Quilt Cupboard" in Morgan City.
Now I have to get up and make a dessert to bring to dad's today. He is BBQ for us to honor Labor Day.

Design Wall Monday
I have bound 2 quilts this weekend and now I can start on something else. I made this quilt for my sister, her birthday is the 20th. Thanks to Beth from our local guild for showing us how to do this piped binding, I love it. Now if I could just sew a straight seam it would look alot better, I guess practice makes perfect. I found a tutorial on this binding at tlcstitches.blogspot.com. The quilt is made with jelly rolls and the fabric is from Fig Tree Quilts.

Vacation
We went to Pigeon Forge TN, Gatlingburg, TN and Asheville, NC. It was beautiful! My husband even stopped at 2 quilt shops along the way. My 1st stop was at, "Mountain Stitches by Susan" in Gatlinburg and the next one was at, "Quilters Quarters" in Waynesville, NC. Both shops were great and the ladies were so nice and helpful. We went on to Asheville so I could see the Biltmore. So glad we took the time to go there it was wonderful seeing the Biltmore Estate and staying at the Biltmore Inn. We went by ourselves this trip and we enjoyed it very much.

Design Wall Monday
I have been behind on my, "Granny Squares". These are my May and June BOM. Just have one left for the June one, maybe I'll get that done tomorrow and then on to the July ones. I hate when I get behind. I'm so glad that Quilts Bayou is picking the colors for this one and not me. I went on a sewing room hop for our guild Saturday, it was so much fun seeing everyone's sewing room. I know we aren't supposed to be envious but it is so hard after seeing all these. Mine is so small but I am grateful for what I have. Here are a few of the places we stopped at. Judy's mom was with us on this hop, it was so nice meeting her Judy. Everyone referred to her as, "Judy's mom". LOL (You have the sweetest mom Judy)

Design Wall Monday
I made a baby quilt this week now I just have to quilt it. I think I quilt it myself for a change. I got the pattern out of this magazine and yes I have the fabric for the quilt on the front cover, it's just to get the time to do it. I also finished another quilt but didn't post a picture because it needs ironing. Yesterday was our 29th anniversary and my husband sent me a beautiful bouquet. Love him!

Civil War Diary Quilt
I bought this book a while back and it got put up because I didn't want to trace the patterns and didn't have the EQ program for paper piecing. I lucked up when I saw that "The Pieceful Gathering Quilt Shop" in Illinois was doing this as a BOM so I signed up. They send me the paper piecing patterns and fabric for 5 to 6 blocks a month. This one is a whole lot easier piecing than the Dear Jane ones. I am just on row 2 and I'm trying to catch up. (Will I ever be caught up.)

Design Wall Monday
I went on a quilting retreat again put on by, "Quilts Bayou" out of Lake Charles, LA. The retreat was at Stone Creek Lodge in Kountze, TX. It is a wonderful place for a retreat. The sisters that own the lodge are just great. The food was delicious and the accomodations are wonderful. You eat on china plates and coffee in the morning is in china cups and saucers! Had a great time and these are my projects that I worked on there. "Blue Ribbon" by A Graceful Stitch is so pretty but man the half square triangles liked to have killed me, everyone was picking at me about the 196 triangles then Brenda came and told me she had over 200 so I didn't feel so bad. :) The other one is, "Wine Country" by Cozy Quilt Designs. I chose it because I wanted to use my jelly roll of, "Buttercup" by Fig Tree. Now I just need to finish. Story of my life.

Design Wall Monday
I took this one out again I am determined to finish it. I've only had the kit since 2006! I have 33 blocks made and I need 57. This is a Bonnie Blues Quilts kit called, "My Old Kentucky Home." It is all set on point so I dread that. This one is going to my son Kyle who has been wondering when I will ever finish it.

Granny Squares
When I bought this magazine I wanted to make the one on the cover called, "Granny Squares." I lucked up one day when I walked into Quilts Bayou in Lake Charles, La and saw they were offering this quilt as a block of the month. Yeah! I don't have to think about the colors which I happen to be bad at. Each month they give you 3 squares to sew and as of today I'm all caught up and I'm ready for March. There is alot of seam matching on this one so I'm kind of glad that it's only 3 a month. On to something else now.

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler
I am determined to finish this quilt! I got 9 blocks done this week. I think I have over 70 blocks done now. If a block has a set in seam it will not get done, I hate those. I will finish the paper pieced ones and a few applique. The fabrics I'm using on this quilt is from Robin Pandolph. I just want to get it done and move on to something else.

My Little Brother
On January 7, 2011 I lost my baby brother. We were 20 years apart and I felt like he was as much my child as my own. Steven Carlton as I called him when he was in trouble was very handsome to me. Loved his smile. I miss him so much tonight and can't believe he's gone. I will miss you little boy (that's what I would call him when I saw him). What I wouldn't give for a hug now. Love you. Steven Carlton Savant. You will always be my "baby brother."

Hop To It
I signed up for the Hop To It block of the month by Edyta Sitar at Quilts Bayou in Lake Charles, LA in 2010. As you can see they were not finished, my aunt and I are determined they will be finished in 2011. Just finished appliqueing the 3rd block about to start on the 4th. No one will get this one, it will be mine until I'm dead and gone :)
